Russell Simmons - Hip Hop Dhimmitude

Jack Kemp

Recently I read at Pamela Geller's "Atlas Shrugged" website that Russell Simmons, the hip-hop mogul, is against Lowe's Hardware for withdrawing their advertising from "The Muslim Next Door" U.S. cable tv show. Simmons is also a supporter of the Ground Zero Mosque,

In the article, Pamela Geller rightly asked:
http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2011/12/simmons-shilling-for-slavery.html

"Why isn't Simmons using his considerable influence to inform his "fans" about Islamic honor killings, clitorectomies, child marriages, forced marriage and the dehumanization of women -- especially in light of the fact that Russell has daughters? Is Simmons that clueless?"
END QUOTE

Well, it turns out that Simmons is against child sexual slavery in Cambodia and has been honored for is work with the Somaly Mam Foundation. She is a former child prostitute from Cambodia.
http://www.starpulse.com/news/index.php/2011/10/21/russell_simmons_honored_for_his_antisl

"Simmons has long supported the Somaly Mam Foundation, which aims to help women who have been previously forced into sex slavery, and he was feted for his contributions at the organization's gala in New York.

In a series of posts on his Twitter.com page, he writes, "Being honored now by Somaly Mam foundation (works to eradicate modern day slaves). Somaly Mam - she is an absolute hero of mine. Former sex worker in Cambodia who has an extraordinary foundation helping young girls."
END OF QUOTE

So Simmons is anti-slavery as long as no Muslim controversies are involved.

It is ironic that the foundation name begins with "Somaly," as Somalia is the sight of much childhood slavery, both sexual and chattel, created and enforced by Muslims.

In Somalia's neighboring state of Sudan, Simon Deng was sold into slavery as a child. Today Deng is a U.S. citizen and anti-slavery activist. Wikipedia states:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_Deng

"Deng says in his account of his capture and subsequent abduction: "... I was a slave. ... When I was nine years old, my village was raided by Arab troops in the pay of Khartoum. As we ran into the bush to escape I watched as childhood friends were shot dead and the old and the weak who were unable to run were burned alive in their huts. I was abducted and given to an Arab family as a "gift"."[2]

Deng has also traveled "on a fact-finding and humanitarian aid mission in southern Sudan and Darfur, where he met with leading Sudanese officials, including the President of Southern Sudan, Salva Kiir.

Mr. Deng is a black man and a Christian and has spoken out against the Ground Zero Mosque at Pam Geller's rallies in New York. If Russell Simmons can get over his differences on that issue, Simon Deng could educate Simmons a great deal about slavery in their (same) ancestral home continent.

Hat Tip: Pam Geller
