A Golden Goose in Every Pot

A nation must be able to transmit it`s own peculiar culture and traditions to truly be a nation. According to the Center for Immigration Studies one out of every four children born in America are born to immigrants! This bodes ill indeed for the continuation of American culture and tradition. How can we enculturate and absorb such a massive tide? The obvious answer is that America must do the changing, and our culture will be the one making the adaptation.

These immigrants came here to enjoy the wealth, prosperity, and way of life that our unique American culture has provided. How long before the storm-surge of unrestricted immigration kills the goose which laid the golden egg? American culture is what has given us this prosperity and success. Immigrants have always brought the best from their home cultures and tossed it into our melting pot, while adopting the ideals which have given this bounty to all. How can this continue if floods of immigrants keep pouring into this country with no pressure to enculturate?

Diversity theorists have insisted that all cultures are equal, and we have no right to force others to accept our values. America has adopted this suicidal creed at a time when we can least afford it, when the Nation is being flooded by a great migration of peoples who seek the blessings of our country but aren`t especially interested in becoming part of us. This is a recipe for Golden Goose fricassie; it holds the seeds of our destruction. We have GOT to take this seriously! Peoples have lost their nations before us; what makes us think that we won`t share the fate of ancient India, Rome, Anatolia, Britain, North Africa, etc.? We have no undying place in this world. Our fate depends upon our cultural and spiritual vigor; without our believing in our God and our culture we are doomed to destruction.

Many, many in America despise the beautiful City on the Hill which is the United States. There are many among us those who see this land as a tyrant and despoiler, and would love to see the end of the very things which allow them to sit in the comfort of their fashionable homes and think (and speak) these thoughts. Many in the left would love to see a flood of immigrants swallow up the ``evil imperialist`` America. Many believe that if America could be transformed into a third-world nation, the world would be at peace and humanity could return to that pastoral paradise of yore in which we all live in an idyllic state of Nature and frolick with Mother Gaia. The destruction of the evils of capitalism and industry are necessary to return us to this mythic paradise, and the collapse of America is the price they are willing to pay. That this destruction would arguably be the greatest disaster in history (worse, even, than the fall of Rome because it would spell the end of Mankind`s experiment with Liberty) does not seem to occur to these dolts. These people want the Golden Goose to fly free! They never think about what they will eat when the Goose has flown.

Between the lunatic left, our foreign enemies, and uncontrolled immigration, the United States is in mortal peril. It`s time for everyone to wake up to that fact, or we may be joining the Romans as footnotes of glory in the pages of history!

Well, actually, what you call American culture was the culture brought in by European immigrants, which supplanted the Native American culture that the many NA nations were founded on. Damn those immigrants, eh?

Speaking as one who's ancestors were all immigrants (German on my Dad's side, French and Irish on my mother's side): OMGWTF! Or are you specifically referring to non-European immigrants? Because if you are, then, you know, I think we all know what you're really trying to say here.

I'm surprised at how well you're able to type with a sheet over your head.

Good gosh these folks are agitated today! Why do these people have to resort to name calling? It's so tiresome...

Anyway, Jarlsberg's Chosen's point is off target. There is a distinct American culture whether you want to believe it or not. Until the multiculturalist mantra took over the government and schools (I guess that is one in the same) immigrants did seek to become Americans and jetison their native identities. For example: my Italian born father in law was forbidden from speaking Italian even in his own house because his father declared them Americans now. This was the case in nearly every household until the 1960's.

The American Indian experience was hardly unique in the history of the world. Countless aboriginal populations and cultures have been destroyed by "invaders". This doesn't make it right, but it is hardly only an American shame.

Moonbiter - your race baiting is unbecoming. Even in this day and age most of the children of Asian immigrants are becoming Americans, since none of them want to emulate the shitholes their parents came from.

Birdnow is dead right about the self loathing Americans who rail against the culture that brought them their incredibly comfortable lives. This is the culture that saved Europe from Nazi domination. This is the culture that spent 40 years resisting the Soviet communists from taking over the world - do you really think you would be posting your thoughts on the World Wide Web if the Soviets and the Nazis had won. Where the HELL do you think you'd be right now if it were not for the culture you HATE so much. Well I know - forced labor baby, living in a slum Hi-rise and making sure you had your papers in order.

Wise up. Socialism and atheism are dead ends.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. My point was rather distortive of the issue, though - one culture eliminating (or near-eliminating, or replacing as the mainstream) another does not mean that culture deserves the same. I would like to know though, what it is that 'American culture' details, in general, as I cannot seem to find it in the original post.

``My point was rather distortive of the issue, though - one culture eliminating (or near-eliminating, or replacing as the mainstream) another does not mean that culture deserves the same.``

Well said. Two wrongs do not make a right, and a second crime does not make up for a first.

The total destruction of Native American culture was a crime on the par with slavery, and was a national disgrace.

I understand it; contrary to modern revisionist history the settlers on the frontier had cause to fear and loath Indians. How would you react if your family purchased an empty piece of land and were suddenly slaughtered for tresspassing (with no way for you to KNOW you were tresspassing.) The original settlers came to sparsely settled place with no reason to believe they were stepping on anyone`s toes. Native Americans viewed any region they migrated into as their territory, and in fact fought constant wars among themselves over turf. Consider the original English colony at Roanoke, Va. which had become very friendly with the locals, inviting them into their homes for breakfast and the like. One day, out of the blue, the Indians slaughtered the entire colony. Many such incidents colored the view of most settlers. Also, torture and human dismemberment were practiced by a number of Native tribes, which did nothing to dispel the concept of ``savage`` Indians.

I am not blaming the Native Americans for resisting the encroachment of Europeans on their world; I`d have done the same. It certainly gave the settlers no right to committ genocide-especially against the peacable and cultured groups such as the Civilized Tribes. (There were many atrocities committed by settlers.) The Trail of Tears was a national disgrace.

That said, crimes committed by our forebears (and many Americans are descended from people who immigrated AFTER these crimes were committed)hardly justify the destruction of our own culture. That culture has indeed been built, and advanced by the numerous immigrant groups who have come here-and no one is calling for the elimination of all legal immigration. There is a vast difference between a controlled number of immigrants coming, enculturating, and adding their own unique gifts to the melting pot and a vast invasion of peoples from a different culture who will NOT enculturate and join the mainstream of society. Rome permitted this and it destroyed them within 100 years. (Check out my AT article Barbarian Invasions for more on this.) The Visigoths entered the Roman Empire in 376 and the fall of Rome is dated 476; Rome could not control her borders and immigration destroyed the unique Roman culture. There is a reason why the term Vandals is applied to destructive criminals, rather than simply the name of a tribe.

You ask about what is American culture-I suggest you read Alexis De-Toqueville. He wrote what was probably the greatest analysis of American culture and civilization.

I think, just like the Native Americans before us, we have the right to keep it.

Thanks for a thoughtful and courteous post.
