Will a reduction in oil consumption help us in the War on Terror? Nope, according to National Review Online.

Just simply not being dependent on the oil-producing countries will be a major boost to the American economy, and that alone will be a major aid in the so-called war on terror.
Being self-sufficient means, among other things, not being bound up in other nations' troubles, not having to be wary of every move, not being open to economic blackmail.
Of course the religious psychos, of all religions, will always be wanting to cause trouble, but with a stronger and more self-contained economy, the United States will be better able to deal with them.; 3:08 PM
