Mike Reagan reveals Christian implications of '67 Borders

Jack Kemp

Writing in Townhall.com, Michael Reagan logically follows the implications for Christians of what a return to the 1967 borders would mean for Christians.

Before the 1967 Six Day War, the Old City of Jerusalem was under the control of Jordanian Palestinians. No Jews were allowed to visit their holy sites, but I believe Christians could visit their holy sites. But what Obama now wants is that the parts of Ancient Jerusalem that hold The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Via Dolorosa, the Chapel of Ascension, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Last Supper Room, the Tomb of the Virgin and other holy Christian sites would be under the control of the Hamas linked Palestinian Authority.

Reagan contends that Hamas would not allow Christians to visit these sites they revere. Although he doesn't state it, the physical safety of these sites holy to Christians would be in danger under such a pre-1967 border agreement. I believe Michael Reagan is correct. What access the Muslim world allowed Christians after World War II could easily be taken away at this time in political history.

Here is what Reagan's article states, in his own words:

"Incredibly, the president is demanding that Israel revert to the 1967 borders, which would expose the Jewish state to attacks from the terrorist organization Hamas, which now controls the government of neighboring Palestine. Unless we want these terrorists to control Christianity's history in the Holy Land we must prevail upon the president to abandon this dangerous and wrong-headed policy.

You can make your voices heard loud and clear by joining the Reagan Group in our effort to protect our Christian heritage in the Holy Land by petitioning the Congress to force the president to abandon this dangerous policy. All you need do to make your voices heard is to go to our website at http://www.reaganmorning.com and add your signature to our petition, which you can read there."
