Peak Oil my Eye!

Timothy Birdnow Peak Oil? We have heard a lot about "peak oil" in recent years, the notion that we are running out of oil and must turn to alternative fuels like ethanol. But it just isn't true. Take this, for example. http://www.forbes.com/sites/christopherhelman/2012/06/04/bakken-bazhenov-shale-oil/ According to Forbes: "But as great as the Bakken is, I learned last week about another oil shale play that dwarfs it. It’s called The Bazhenov. It’s in Western Siberia, in Russia. And while the Bakken is big, the Bazhenov — according to a report last week by Sanford Bernstein’s lead international oil analyst Oswald Clint — “covers 2.3 million square kilometers or 570 million acres, which is the size of Texas and the Gulf of Mexico combined.” This is 80 times bigger than the Bakken." [...] "If Harold Hamm is convinced the Bakken will give up 24 billion barrels, a play 80 times bigger like the Bazhenov would imply 1,920 billion barrels. That’s a preposterous figure, enough oil to satisfy all of current global demand for 64 years, or to do 5 million bpd for more than 1,000 years. Rosneft, says Clint, has already estimated 18 billion barrels on its Bazhenov acreage. Either way, it looks like they’ll still be working the Bazhenov long after Vladimir Putin has finally retired and the Peak Oil crowd realizes there’s more oil out there than we’ve ever imagined." End excerpts. Yes, you read that right; this could produce one thousand nine hundred and twenty billion barrels, or 1.92 trillion barrels! Peak oil my eye! Up until recently this oil was unobtainable. Recent developments in hydraulic fracturing have made it possible to go after this enormous pool of oil. And, as author Christopher Helman points out, the infrastructure is already in place to handle the output once the oil starts flowing. This means decades of oil for the taking. There is a secessionist movement in Siberia, and many of the Siberians want to be annexed by the United States. http://tbirdnow.mee.nu/siberia_seeking_u.s._annexation It's starting to look like a good deal after all! At any rate, we have oil coming out of our ears, and yet the Obamabots and others keep pushing the "renewable" energy on us. We just don't need it. Why are we wasting valuable resources on energy sources measured in single digit Watts or tens of calories? The obvious answer is that there are those who seek to ration freedom and to do that one must ration energy. It's a powerful club to use on those who oppose you; cut off the pipeline and the enemy sits in the dark. No computers, no radios, no nothing. Control of energy gives governments enormous power. But a virtually endless supply of power makes the recipients rich. Wealthy people are harder to dominate than the poor. They don't need your "help". A dictator would naturally seek to restrict energy consumption. But there is no need. And now that Anthropogenic Global Warming has turned out to be a fabrication of science there is zero need to restrict carbon-based fuels. We are swimming in cream - black oily cream, to be sure, but the sweetest crude imaginable. Our energy future is secure, if we just have the courage to go get it.
