On D-Day Anniversary, Obama commemorates fundraising

Jack Kemp Pres. Obama will spend June 6th flying from Washington to California to attend fundraising events. http://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2012/06/06/Obamas-schedule-for-Wednesday-June-6/UPI-89501338980729/?spt=hs&or=tn He will not visit Normandy, France. He will not visit the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Virginia http://www.dday.org/visiting/faq.html nor the World War II Memorial in Washington (which would cause a minimal delay in Obama’s flight to California with its earlier-in-the-day time zone). Nor will Obama be visiting the National D-Day Museum http://www.ddaymuseum.org/ or the National World War II Museum, both in New Orleans. This past weekend, the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum in Reading, Pennsylvania, held an airshow and World War II Weekend, complete with historical reenactors in period uniforms and costumes. http://www.maam.org/maamwwii.html Military planes flew overhead with the white stripe markings used for the Normandy D-Day Invasion. A small French village was recreated, with its Resistance members. A contingent of reenactors in Free Polish forces under British command set up their tent. One wonders what they would have said to Obama about so called “Polish death camps” had he come to Reading. Also present at the World War II Weekend were actual veterans: An Air Force survivor the Ploiesti oil field raids who was shot down, surviving members of the Tuskegee Airmen, Women Airforce Service pilots (who delivered planes from factories to military bases Stateside), a sergeant from the 101st Airborne Division (Band of Brothers) – and many more. http://www.maam.org/wwii/ww2_guests.htm One of the displays at the Reading airfield was for www.honorflightphiladelphia.org which, I believe, is a part of the national http://www.honorflight.org This organization flies senior veterans to Washington to see the memorials for the war they served in. Priority is given to World War II veterans and veterans with terminal diseases. None of those veterans honored will get a ride to the D-Day Memorial or Museum in New Orleans on Air Force One this June 6th. Then again, perhaps the veterans are better off traveling with Honor Flight and not being asked for a donation by a President who has not donated anything compared to what they have given.
