Throwing Terri to the Lions

Some quick thoughts on the thumbs down by the modern day Caesars in our Judiciary:

1. This is yet one more reason why Congress should embrace the ``nuclear option`` and change the fillibuster rules in the Senate. We cannot continue allowing activist judges to rule from the bench. WE control Congress, WE control the Presidency, WE should have our judges in power. Sanity must be restored to the Judiciary.

2. This underscores the mediocrity of our elected officials. Although Congress did act by allowing her to appeal to a Federal Court, they should have known WHO the appeal was going to in advance, and took the necessary next steps. They should have been prepared to defend their right of subpeona as a coequal branch of government. Congressional Republicans are forever getting outfoxed. We are winning only because we have more talent OUTSIDE of government than the Democrats.

3. Once Terri passes on, don`t be surprised to hear demands from the very people who helped kill her for more embryonic stem-cell research. Where have these people been while Terri awaits death? I thought stem-cell research was the miracle cure! It`s advocates have assured us that in a handful of years we would have cures for Alzheimers, Parkinsons, etc. Why should Terri die now, when a miracle cure is within grasp? They have been strangely silent. I suspect we`ll be hearing a lot more from them after poor Terri is gone.

4. Ditto the opponents of capital punishment. Why is life so important for the guilty, but not the innocent?

5. If Terri can be tortured to death legally, how can we oppose non-lethal torture of the guilty-especially terrorists and serial killers?

6. Terri is being denied the most fundamental of human rights-life. Why isn`t the ACLU on her side? Where is the U.N.? This is a gross violation of her civil rights. Why doesn`t Jesse Jackson organize protests?

7. If we accept gay marriage, we will have polygamy following on it`s heels. If a spouse alone can decide life or death, how will we decide WHICH spouse will get the decision? Will we need a quorum?

I fear we have opened a Pandora`s box. If you all remember, Pandora released all the ills of the world by opening it, and I fear great ills will come from this foul murder. God is just.

Deep breath Brother Tim - I think we are winning the war even as we lose this battle. Congress passed a just law, and the executive signed a just law. The judiciary is next on the radar - we are two thirds of the way there.

Glad you're feeling better Sir Tim.

After forty-plus years of being in the minority the modern republican do not know how to behave when they are in POWER. They are still cringing when ever some dope calls them mean-spirited, or unkind to the needy.

Newt was trying to LEAD them into political preeminence back in ’94 until the skeletons began spilling from his closet. He then in another act of leadership stepped down as being a “distraction” to the important work of the party.

Nobody since has taken the leadership of the republican “movement” seriously in either house of congress. Trent Lott was such a bumpkin that he could keep neither of his feet out of his mouth for very long. Everyone else that has succeeded these two has simply occupied the chair and failed every leadership test as dismally as they have failed in Terri’s case.

It’s time for them all to act like the winners we have made them and say to hell with compromises we don’t need them! I think the President could give some lessons in the kind of leadership the congress needs but they don’t seem interested! While I don’t agree with all of Dubya’s positions and policies he is a by GOD leader and the boys in congress better watch him to see how it is done.

There, glad I got that off my chest. Thanks Tim

Right you are, Tim -- and these Republicans better grow some new male appendages if we are to have any power in this culture.

The twin powers of the biased media which puts out their daily dose of propaganda -- and their control of the judiciary - leaves the Republican party putatively in power -- but in reality doing nothing more in most cases than playing Charlie Brown to the democrat's Lucy.

TJwillms is right -- they don't know how to be in the majority - and when they were the minority - they didn't know how to do that because they didn't want to be accused of being obstructionist.

You notice the dems don't worry about that - because they have the media covering their behinds for them and spinning the propaganda their way -- that's why a majority of Americans believe that Terri is on life-support and in the process of dying connected to respirators, heart machines, etc. Bah!

It's sweet and kind of refreshing to see such gentle, childlike faith.
I mean, in today's harsh world, there are still people who believe in fairies and elves and worthwhile Republicans.
Come on, folks. You all are good people, but you are living in a hopeful dream world if you expect today's Republican Party to have any principles. Or courage.
