Indian Nationalism
I`ve expressed reservations about the U.S. policy of supporting the emergence of India as a new superpower. Granted, I`m no expert on India and Hinduism, but I know that India was never friendly to us during the Cold War, and I know how easily this sort of thing can backfire. India will soon be the largest nation on Earth, a nation armed with nuclear weapons. It will probably be better than Chinese or Islamic hegemony in the region. India came out of the British Empire, after all, so has Western roots, but it also has a strong Islamic element, and has historical reasons for resenting the West (Alexander`s invasion, for example.)
Here is a disturbing piece detailing the raping of women who convert from Hinduism to Christianity. This may well be simply a radical group (a Jim Jones type), but it may represent a sizable-or growing-minority of Hindus. At the very least, it may illustrate a growing nationalism and resentment.
The Chinese believe the 21st century will be the Chinese century; I think the latter half will belong to India. We need to be very careful-when playing with fire it`s easy to get burned.

I admit my own ambivalence about a close alliance with India. But if the alliance were to work out, it would be a very good thing, IMO.

Certain Hindus are tribals, similar to Muslims. And Hindus have suffered centuries of slaughter at the hands of Muslims. Maybe this is a pendulum swing. Understand: I'm not making excuses.
i never knew that americans are so insecure.A simple and straight forwarward thought that OUR STATUS OF 'SUPER POWER NATION IS IN DANGER'
prevails in all of these people.
how can a nation which has never attacked any other nation uptill yet be dangerous?
Americans are certainly dangerous ;attacking ,killing and selling weapons, creating human weapons(osama is american product ;idon't wanna go to details).
There is this strain of violent Hinduism present in India. It has a long history. But I will say this: India and China will never be superpowers. I wish it were the case that one or the other would be. China will collapse or become a democracy. Their internal problems will not allow them to overcome the United States. India has a long-term problem in regards to nationality. India has about a hundred-million Muslims in the northern areas. India has instituted a much-need population control measure, but those who are complying are nearly entirely Hindu. As such the Moslem population is beginning to rise above that of the Hindus. Hinduism is simply a tradition of India. It is not Universal, like Christianity or Islam. As such India will be a largely Islamic nation sometime in the next century. Expect the Christian population to rise as well. But they will never be a majority there. India is finsihed unless the population of Moslems there are thrown out. Historically speaking, all of Afghanistan and Pakistan were once Hindu, but following of the heels of Muhammad bin Qasim and Mahmud of Ghazni, there were conquered and the Dehli plain occupied. Just like in Europe history repeats itself. We are entering a new dark age, where no nation will claim hegemony. Only Islam will stand as a monolithic edifice. Excuse my pessimimism. But I will have to live through this, and when I have children so shall they.
