The Mexican War is one of my favorite American engagements, because it was conducted with such vigor and spread the blessings of American Exceptionalism to the Pacific. Also, as Mike points out, James Polk is the only President to fulfill all of his campaign promises-oh, were he here today!
Unfortunately, President Bush is the anti-Polk, working dilligently to reverse all the gains made by our 11th President. If we continue to allow our borders to remain as firm as pudding we will see the complete elimination of Polk`s legacy. It`s a sad thing.
