That Crazy Left

I take on the chore of explaining Liberal madness in my latest at The American Thinker.

the conflation of atheism and leftism that you and almost all other conservatives make is regretful.

the opposite of judeo christian religion is NOT "atheism", its the denial of reality. christians believe that reality is REAL, created in real form by god, discernable by man and reliably experienced by his senses, and there is an atheist materialist worldview OF THE RIGHT that ALSO believes this. THIS is the fundamental schism--ones relationship to the nature of reality and the worldview that flows from ones first premises in this regard. why do Objectivists and christian conservatives come to such a huge number of shared conclusions politically, regarding crime, economics, the role of government, war and peace (usually differing only on "social morality" issues like sex and drug legalization)? because BOTH are based from the outset in the notion that A=A, objective reality is real, whether created by god or arising by accident following immutable laws of physics.

the lefts atheism is not real, it serves ONLY to beat up its major competing worldview, ESTABLISHED religion.
while most leftists ARE "atheists" in that they reject the judeo-christian god, they almost always believe in some manner of "spirituality" or in some non western gods or,even worse, they deify ideas and concepts and worship them, like Peace, and Humanity. the deification of ideas allows actual Humans to be sacrificed in droves on the alter of Humanity, because when the leftist looks at a man he sees not an individual person, but a vessel for the collective spirit of man, one that may be broken to save all the other undifferentiated vessels containing the ideal. the left also maintains a mystical belief in wholly discredited 19th century economics and social science beliefs that defy logic AND 100 years of evidence. this is NOT "atheism" its mysticism pure and simple, and nothing is more laughable to me than watching some leftist sputter that chriastians harbor "primitive" beliefs in god while they trot out Marx;s utterly false armchair "economist" tropes that no person who has even a passing understanding of the marketplace could even possibly entertain as being true.

I enjoyed the article very much, but as an old professor who spent too much time correcting essay questions, I shall point out three little slips. Just before 2. Atheism/Materialism you have libera's where I think you mean liberals'. Twice you have "lead" as the past tense of the verb to lead where you should have written "led." And just before the second of the "leads," you have "it's" where it should be its.

Tim, I just read your article on "The Crazy Left" while visiting The American Thinker and I'm writing to congratulate you on a masterful piece of work. I hope that it's widely read and absorbed by many Americans who live for the day when the left is exposed as the lying charlatans they really are. Many Thanks!

Explaining the liberal mindset? Did attempting to get inside their head give you a migraine? ;)

An excellent article, Tim!
It amazes me how every false belief promoted by the Deceiver himself comes back to that one original lie in the Garden - "You can be as God!" All these other lies are just variations on that one.

Great piece Tim!

All wrapped up in a nice neat "Fiztsmas" ribbon.

The Crazy Left - you have put it appropriately. However, I would disagree with one thing - you should distingush between the "modern liberalism' of the left as opposed to the "classical liberalism" of our forefathers whose tents were based on: free markets, representative government, ownership of private property and the expansion of freedom to larger numbers of people.

The modern conservative movement is a movement - a restoration of that ancient regime which was abdicated by Hoover and other classicists in 1932 to the Faustian (modern) liberalism of today. Modern liberalism is nihilistic, socialistic, lacking any intellectual basis beyond the tenets of evil - the enslavement and death of man. It is rote in its actions and behavior - reflecting the actions of an insane person as you so apply noted.

Hi Dana!

It is true; there are some good conservative atheists. Robert Bidinotto and Christopher Orlet are both on my blogroll, and are both agnostic or atheist.

Please bear in mind that I was talking about Liberals, and was pointing out that atheism is one of the cornerstones of Leftist thought. This does not mean that all non-believers are nuts, or live in a fantasy world like most on the Left. It just makes it so much easier for them.

Anonymous, thanks for the heads-up on the errors. I write these things in Microsoft Word from an outline, and my accursed computer locked up just before I finished the piece! I had to write the #$%& thing from scratch, and did my editing after a full day of writing and rewriting. Careless of me, I know, but I plead for understanding. Thomas Lifson did not catch these mistakes, either.

Thank you so much, Second Anonymous!

Esther, I thought my head was going to explode!

You are 100% correct, Morris.

Thanks, Tom.

You are correct, Joe; modern Liberalism bears little resemblence to the original. There WERE a number of the early Liberals who believed what we do today; they were overrun by the collectivists and atheists. I simply couldn`t open that can of worms! My essay was too long as it was.

Thanks to all for the kind words and encouragement!
