Global Drying

This from the NOAA Satellite and Information Service:

UNITED STATES
Climate Summary
February 2007

The average temperature in February 2007 was 32.9 F. This was -1.8 F cooler than the 1901-2000 (20th century) average, the 34th coolest February in 113 years. The temperature trend for the period of record (1895 to present) is 0.3 degrees Fahrenheit per decade.

1.56 inches of precipitation fell in February. This was -0.46 inches less than the 1901-2000 average, the 16th driest such month on record. The precipitation trend for the period of record (1895 to present) is 0.00 inches per decade.

So, this was an unusually cool February. Of course, one month proves little, but every time we have a warm month the Gang Green goes bananas, claiming ``proof`` of Global Warming, so why shouldn`t we? Are we, perhaps, in a cooling cycle?

What worries me is the low precipitation; are we entering a Global Drying period? Perhaps our damming rivers, our using toilets and washing machines, nuclear reactors that are water cooled, etc. have used up our abundant water resources, and now we will witness worldwide desertification as a result? I was angry when Congress banned the 6 gallon toilet in favor of those tiny low flush jobs, but they should perhaps be commended for their far-sited attempt to bring this crisis under control. We need to check on Dick Cheney`s recent investments; have he and Haliburton been buying stock in water-efficient industries? We KNOW the Veep is personally responsible for suppressing the water-powered car so his oil buddies could reap huge profits. Will he buy up water rights throughout America then release this invention when he and his cronies can make obscene profits?
