The Color of Greed

Timothy Birdnow

The U.N. launches a blitz to push for a deal at Durban.

The interesting part is that there are loud voices calling for the criminalization of "deniar" free speech. From the article:

"At every UN conference there are those who are rabid, radical advocates and COP 17 is no different. A press conference was held by five college professors from U. S. universities who are part of a group called the Pennsylvania Environmental Consortium. Their topic was the Ethics of Climate Disinformation. Prof. Donald Brown of Penn State University claimed there is a concerted and coordinated "campaign of climate change disinformation" going on in the U.S. which he considers a "moral travesty" and an "assault on humanity." He claims he's not attacking skepticism nor is "he denying the right to free speech, but "lying and misinformation" is not acceptable and is "morally reprehensible" in free speech. These elitist professors admit there is uncertainty in the science of global warming but this is being exaggerated by this campaign, thereby keeping the U.S from taking action which in turn causes harm to the poorest and most vulnerable of humanity. "It is a violation of human rights." According to these academics, those involved in the campaign range from tobacco and oil companies to "think tanks, front groups, astroturf groups (groups pretending to be bottom-up citizen responders), and free-market fundamentalists philanthropic funded organizations."

This from a professor at Penn State, where Michael Mann has been openly lying for years about climate change - only lying to advance "the cause" (as we now know The Team called it in their e-mails to each-other courtesy of Climategate II). I wonder what is going on at Penn State; you have Mann, you have Jerry Sandusky raping little boys, now you have this Brown fellow.

There must be something in the water there; too much mercury, perhaps, from all the compact florescent lightbulbs.

How do these "lies" by deniars translate to paralysis on the part of the world if the science is settled, if the globe is demonstrably warming from human emissions? Not a single day passes without some panicky story of doom in the media. One has to search to find stories that suggest global warming is NOT happening, yet we are told that there is some deep, dark "deniar" industry that is manipulating everyone. It is Nature that is manipulating everyone; the public understands that it has not, in fact, warmed and certain politicized scientists are telling the people to believe them and not their lying eyes. The facts on the ground belie the alarmists, yet it is the "deniars" who are the liars? WHERE IS THE MISSING HEAT? WHERE IS THE INCREASED PRECIPITATION? WHERE IS THE MELTED GLACIERS, MELTED ICE CAPS? WHERE ARE ALL THE MALARIA CASES PREDICTED DECADES AGO? WHERE IS THE TROPOSPHERIC HOT SPOT? WHERE IS THE OCEAN WARMING? We were told in the 1980's we only had a decade left, and that was thirty years ago.

And people understand that this green nonsense is part of why the economy is in the toilet. The public understands that every time they pay their utility bills, or stop at the gas station. And we see Al Gore and the others telling us we have to cut back jetting around the world (when they aren't in their million square foot mansions heated to 85* during January), drinking champagne and eating caviar. Remember Barack Obama? He told us we could no longer set our thermostats at 75*, yet he himself is notorious for having the White House thermostat at 82*! Such hypocrisy tells the public that these people don't really believe it if they exempt themselves. They are liars, trying to buffalo the public into signing away their wealth, their freedom, and their futures.

Of course, the U.N. is the penultimate grabber of power and wealth, and is the proper forum to suggest silencing critics. There IS a liar industry, but it's in shades of green.

And Brown complains of

"tobacco and oil companies to "think tanks, front groups, astroturf groups (groups pretending to be bottom-up citizen responders), and free-market fundamentalists philanthropic funded organization"

When HE has governments, international agencies, George Soros, a host of left-wing philanthropic groups, the Democrat Party all funding his climate change alarmism. He gets free, glowing advertisement from a complicit news media. Money is the operative word in climate change.

For example http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703939404574566124250205490.html

"Consider the case of Phil Jones, the director of the CRU and the man at the heart of climategate. According to one of the documents hacked from his center, between 2000 and 2006 Mr. Jones was the recipient (or co-recipient) of some $19 million worth of research grants, a sixfold increase over what he'd been awarded in the 1990s.

Why did the money pour in so quickly? Because the climate alarm kept ringing so loudly: The louder the alarm, the greater the sums. And who better to ring it than people like Mr. Jones, one of its likeliest beneficiaries?

Thus, the European Commission's most recent appropriation for climate research comes to nearly $3 billion, and that's not counting funds from the EU's member governments. In the U.S., the House intends to spend $1.3 billion on NASA's climate efforts, $400 million on NOAA's, and another $300 million for the National Science Foundation. The states also have a piece of the action, with California—apparently not feeling bankrupt enough—devoting $600 million to their own climate initiative. In Australia, alarmists have their own Department of Climate Change at their funding disposal.

And all this is only a fraction of the $94 billion that HSBC Bank estimates has been spent globally this year on what it calls "green stimulus"—largely ethanol and other alternative energy schemes—of the kind from which Al Gore and his partners at Kleiner Perkins hope to profit handsomely."

End excerpt.

Or how about this; the University of East Anglia paid BBC journalists.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2063737/BBCs-Mr-Climate-Change-accepted-15-000-grants-university-rocked-global-warning-scandal.html

No, the money is on the side of the alarmists, the Gang Green.

Any money paid by the Koch Brothers or any other grants to "deniars" are in the mere thousands of dollars, not millions, and no journalist has ever been proven to be bought by advocacy groups on the no-warming side.

But it's the narrative; "industry is paying to thwart the truth, that we are in a crisis" and these people will stick to the narrative because they can't think of anything else to do. Since nature isn't cooperating they have to fall back on the progressive-era boogeyman of big industry buying the world. Well, the world hasn't been owned by big business, not now and not ever. It HAS been owned by big government, which is what these people advocate. Communism, a totalitarian system, once ruled half the world. Much of the world is today statist, with quasi socialist systems in place - and that includes the United States, which has recently socialized medicine and simply took over one of the big three automobile companies. Citizens do not have a choice on patronizing government; money is taken involuntarily from them, whereas they don't have to use the services of any business they do not agree with. Government can compel people. As the Bible puts it, the king has "the power of the sword" meaning government can hurt or kill you if you do not obey, and that is precisely what these people want to unleash on the public. But the narrative is that business is full of robber barons whom the government must thwart, and so we will ignore the robber emperors in Washington, in London, Canberra, etc. Read Mussolini's What is Fascism, or study the Nazi economic policies if you don't believe we live in the Uberstate.

But this line is wearing thin. Especially since facts are indeed stubborn things, and the facts are against people like Professor Brownshirt, who seems likely at home with storm trooopers busting up the headquarters of the Heritage Foundation or SEPP. Now THAT is true science, worthy of Trofim Lysenko; scientists all agree, and those who do not agree will be given a fair hearing then shot.

Now THAT's Science!
